Artists We Miss…

We watch plenty of TV on our http://www.direct.tv/direct-tv/Arizona/ channels but our radios are ALWAYS on. And we’ve noticed as of late that some of our favorites haven’t come out with a new hit in, well, too long! Here are a few of the artists we’re really dying to hear a single from:
Taylor Swift – It seemed like for a while there that every song on the radio was Taylor – between her new stuff and the Twilight stuff and everything else. But it’s been a really Taylor-free zone here as of late and we miss our precious pop princess!
Maroon 5 – Yes, Maroon 5. We know it’s not necessarily the most popular choice but we happen to think Adam Levine has quite a set of pipescan’t wait to hear what these boys are up to sometime soon!
Green Day – Are they even a band anymore? Green Day had us at hello but unless you’re listening to classic alternative stations you won’t hear anything of their past glory days. We’d kill for another single like the ones from the late 90s.

Will Coldplay’s New Album Take Over The World?

Coldplay is one of the most popular bands in the world; with lead singer Chris Martin recognized as one of the best song writers around today. So it will be interesting to see if Coldplay’s new album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ will also perform well in the charts when it is released on October 24th.

It would not be surprising if Coldplay’s new album took over the world and reigned the charts because their last album ‘Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends’ did extremely well; with its title song ‘Viva La Vida’ winning several awards, including Song of the Year at the 51st Grammy Awards.

The first track on Coldplay’s new album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ is titled ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall’ and is already receiving critical acclaim from those who have heard it performed in concerts. Coldplay is a band whose music is timeless and it their new album is sure to do well all over the world; as they have millions of fans who love and appreciate their brand of alternative music.

‘Mylo Xyloto’ is being released by Capitol Records, who is sure to be hoping that the album will debut at number 1 on the Billboard chart in October.

It Was 20 Years Ago Tonight – U2 Achtung Baby

In the year after the fall of the Berlin Wall, a new Europe emerged. The Cold War came to an end. On the eve of German reunification, the last flight into East Berlin held four men seeking inspiration. U2 arrived in Berlin, “ready for what’s next.” There to record their next album, they quickly found disagreements and stark contrasts in their musical direction. Disillusioned and not making progress, the band found themselves at the brink of breaking up.

In the 20 years that have passed since the release of Achtung Baby, most fans have forgotten how close it came to demise. Thankfully, the two sides reached an agreement, finding a way to fuse the new electronic sound with solid strong structure. The band referred to the album’s musical departure from their past work as “the sound of four men chopping down The Joshua Tree.”

Fans quickly understood the allusion. The distorted guitar of the album’s opening song “Zoo Station”, shockingly introduced listeners to a postmodern, darker and more sophisticated U2. Two decades and over 18 million copies later, the album’s affect on engineered modern rock music is indisputable. Songs like “One” and “Mysterious Ways” sound as fresh and inventive tonight as they did 20 years ago.

Transcending time, Achtung Baby is now widely recognized as one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Fans can listen to the newly released 20th Anniversary reissue, while pondering what might have happened in Berlin.

Will Josh Klinghoffer Bring New Sounds For RHCP?

Musical artist and their styles evolve and change over time. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, a popular band in the 1990s have just released their 10th album. The 10th album includes a new artist, Josh Klinghoffer. The term sound hard to describe to people who are not music enthusiast. Even people who are music enthusiasts may not now what it means outside of their preferred genres. The current album will sound like their nine previous albums. Fans of RHCP will recognize the familiar funk rhythms and the rock sound that have come to characterize the band.

The addition of a new artist will always change the sound of a band. The fans will determine whether the new sound changes the band for the better or if it changes the sound for the worse. Josh Klinghoffer seems to have altered for the better, but only slightly. Even the most ardent critic cannot tell that there is much of a difference between the band’s sound in its current album and the band’s sound in earlier albums.

If you are a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, you will want the band’s latest album. If you have not heard of the band before you may want to check them out. It’s probably better to start with “Under the Bridge,” however.
